Generally, there are four ways to select or pick your seat on a LATAM flight. All these ways are possible anytime before the flight but it is recommended to select your seat as early as possible. Depending on your preferences, comfort, and fare cost, you can pick a seat in the following ways:
- During booking
- After booking
- During check-in
- Additional seat options
Let’s discuss them in detail.
During booking:
The best and ideal time to select your seat is during the booking process. If you are using the LATAM website or app to book your seat then fill in all the details and follow the instructions till you have reached the seat selection section. From there, you can select your seat according to your liking. If you want extra legroom then it is suggested to choose ‘Exit Row Seats’ or ‘LATAM+ Seats’. Both of them provide you with extra legroom for maximum comfort. However, they can have slight disadvantages too like the ‘Exit Row Seats’ come with assisting in emergencies. On the other hand, the ‘LATAM+ Seats’ charge you extra for the upgraded seat to the front row.
After Booking
It can be a possibility that you forgot to select a seat while booking. No worries as even then you can do it by visiting the ‘My Trip’ section on the LATAM app/website. Just put in your booking code and last name and choose the seat of your preference. You can see all the window seats, aisle seats, or the middle ones. Not many prefer the middle seats as people don’t have enough room to rest or to get comfy.
During Check-in
Picking a seat during check-in is also available but the chances of having options available can be limited as most of the seats get booked by then. 48 hours before the departure, you can visit the ‘Check-in’ page and get the seating map. This will show you all the available seats and you can have a pick at it.
Additional Seat Options
There are different packages offered by LATAM like the Standard, Premium, Front, and Extra Legroom. All of these packages charge you an extra fee and you get to have a pick at seats. If you are willing to pay a little extra for your comfort then this is for you.
In short, all these options are available but make your selection as early as you can. As this will give you plenty of options to choose from. As the saying goes, ‘First Come, First Serve’!
